| NAIDOC YOUNG ACHIEVERS | |
| The
award, to be based on nominations received from the community, will
recognise young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, male and
female, who have made an outstanding contribution within his or her
community. The contribution might be in education or training achievement,
employment success, sporting or artistic prowess, leadership, community
involvement or any other attribution valued by the community. Nominations are now being sought. Community groups or individuals are urged to fill in the nomination form on the back of this page and forward it no later than JUNE 20th 2003. The Minister will announce the recipient of the award at a special young person’s event during NAIDOC Week. |
The
only guidelines are as follows: 1. The person proposed is to be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and between the age of 15-25 years as at 31st December 2003. 2. Nominations must be on the attached form and must be signed by the proposer and seconder. Individuals or Community organisations can apply. Remember the more information you include, the better the chances of success are for the nominee. 3. What judges will be looking for from Nominee’s: >> Interview 15-20 mins >> 3 minute public presentation about themselves. Eight awards will be selected, from that Mr and Miss NAIDOC 2003 will be chosen by the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. This is an opportunity to recognise the strength of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians and acknowledge their future role. Please consider making an appropriate nomination. |
